Mudslide in Kyrgyzstan kills 9 people

Bishkek, July 1, 2024. / Kabar /. The total number of people killed in a mudslide in Kyrgyzstan’s Nookat region has reached 9 people.

According to data of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the country, the boy’s body was found in the village of Abshir-Ata and handed over to the police. His personal details are currently being clarified.

Earlier, it was reported that five people died as a result of the mudflow in Nookat region.

Mudflows as a result of heavy rainfall in Nookat region on Friday, damaged two bridges, electric poles and flooded 15 courtyards of private houses.

Besides, the report said that in the Abshyr-Ata recreation area, 1,300 people were blocked due to the fact that a mudflow washed away the road.

373 people are involved in search activities: 53 rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 120 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, 50 employees of the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic and 150 local residents.
