Bishkek, June 26, 2021 . / Kabar /. Zamir Rakiyev has been elected Spiritual Leader of the Muslims of Kyrgyzstan - Mufti of the country, the press service of the Spiritual Board of Muslims told Kabar News Agency.
Elections of the head of Spiritual Board Muslims were held in Bishkek with the participation of 220 delegates and invited guests.
Former kazy (Islamic legal scholar and judge) of the capital, Zamir Rakiyev, 43, was elected the mufti of Kyrgyzstan.
A total of 9 people competed for the post of head of the Spiritual Board of Muslims.
Former Mufti Maksatbek Toktomushev left the position on Feb. 11, 2021 in connection with the investigation of corruption schemes in the Muftiate by the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan.
