Bishkek, Feb. 7, 2018 / Kabar /. The construction of the gold-processing plant in Toguz-Toro region in Jalal-Abad oblast was officially suspended as far back in Nov.2017, head of the State Inspection for Environmental and Technical Security (SIETS) of the Kyrgyz Republic Kanat Muratbekov told Kabar News Agency.
Muratbekov stressed that the official order to stop the construction of the company was justified by the fact that the company did not have environmental and technical expertise. "In addition, there are unsolved issues related to land," he explained.
Whereas, chairman of the State Committee of Industry, Subsoil Use and Energy Ulanbek Ryskulov told Kabar News Agency that the project of building the gold-processing plant in Toguz-Toro has shortcomings in the area of industrial safety.
"The idea itself is good, because the company intends to buy concentrate in Kyrgyzstan and process it. We will not need to export concentrates to neighboring countries. However, since the project is underdeveloped, we cannot say anything about its industrial readiness," Ryskulov said.
All the while, a protest meeting of local residents was held today in Toguz-Toro with the demand not to construct the plant as it will harm the environment.
