Tashkent, Oct.29, 2019. /Kabar/. The II Naqshbandi Tourism Festival 2019 will be held in Uzbekistan from Oct. 31 to Nov. 7, the press service of the Uzbek State Committee for Tourism Development reported.
More than 250 followers of Sufi tariqa of Naqshbandi from all over the world, in particular from Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, Great Britain, New Zealand, China, India, Australia, USA, South Africa and other countries are expected to participate in the international festival.
Pilgrimage tours to holy sites and memorial complexes in Uzbekistan will be held as part of the festival.
The organizer is the World Sufi Centre (Malaysia) under the State Committee for Tourism and Hilal Travel Company.
The Naqshbandi or Naqshbandiyah is a major Sunni spiritual order of Sufism. It got its name from Baha-ud-Din Naqshband Bukhari and traces its spiritual lineage to the Islamic prophet Muhammad through Abu Bakr, who was father-in-law, companion, and successor of Muhammad.
There are more than 40 million followers of the Naqshbandi Sufi teachings in the world.
