Bishkek, May 10, 2020 / Kabar/. Today Kyrgyzstan celebrates the birthday of the national currency - the Kyrgyz som. The national currency of Kyrgyzstan was introduced on May 10, 1993. Today is also a professional holiday for bank workers.
During a briefing in the Government House, chairman of the National Bank, Tolkunbek Abdygulov, congratulated the Kyrgyz people on the National Currency Day and employees of banking sector on a professional holiday.
He said that about 15 thousand people work in the country in the banking sector.
“Every day during an emergency regime, 7 thousand employees of the banking system worked to ensure the smooth operation of the payment system, thanks to this, all pensions and benefits were delivered to the Kyrgyz people on time. The population had the opportunity to make payments and receive money transfers,” said Tolkunbek Abdygulov.
