Bishkek, Oct. 26, 2021 . / Kabar / . The Board of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic decided to keep the discount rate (key rate) at 7.5 percent. The decision will take effect on Oct. 26, 2021.

The press service of the financial regulator said that economies of Kyrgyzstan’s trading partners continue to recover actively. However, rising inflation and risks of more dangerous strains of coronavirus increase uncertainty about the exit of the economies of our region to the trajectory of sustainable growth.

The economic activity in Kyrgyzstan is recovering at moderate rates. According to the results of January-September of the current year, the growth of real GDP reached a positive mark at the level of 0.1 percent.

The situation in the domestic foreign exchange market was characterized by stability. The National Bank carried out foreign exchange interventions to prevent sharp fluctuations of the exchange rate.

Taking into account the prerequisites for the development of the external environment and internal economic conditions, the National Bank decided to maintain the discount rate at 7.5 percent. In case of any risks, the Bank does not exclude the possibility of making additional adjustments to the monetary policy.
