Bishkek, Mar. 5, 2019. /Kabar/. The female population prevails in urban areas of Kyrgyzstan, the National Statistics Committee reports in its study.
In rural areas, on the contrary, there is a predominance in the male side. Thus, according to the latest calculations, the population of the country is 6 million 257 thousand people, of which 3 million 155 thousand are women and 3 million 102 thousand are men.
“The distribution of the population by gender in the country is not uniform. In urban areas, the proportion of women exceeds the proportion of men and amounts to 52.5%, and in rural areas, where the birth rate is higher, on the contrary, men prevail to a slight degree – 50.6%,” the study says.
At the same time, the preponderance of the female population in the general structure begins at about 40 years, and at the age of over 80, their number is almost 2 times as high as the number of men. This difference is mainly due to differences in the age-specific mortality of the male and female population.
