Dubai, Feb. 12, 2019 / Kabar/. “Nature doesn’t need people. People need nature,” Harrison Ford, the climate change philanthropist and actor told while speaking at the World Government Summit in Dubai on Tuesday.
Harrison Ford delivered an inspiring speech on the dangers of climate change.
"All of us rich or poor, powerful or powerless will suffer the effect of climate change and eco-system destruction". He called out world leaders and stated "climate change is a global problem and the solution must be equally inclusive".
"We are faced with the greatest moral crisis of our time," he said.
Ford said we need to start protecting what we have, and gave a shout-out to the UAE’s mangrove preservation efforts.
"You would think the world would feel compelled to take meaningful action, by what the consensus of science tells us about the threat of climate change. But elements of leadership, including in my home country, choose to deny or denigrate science,” the actor said.
He stated with regret that the greatest nemesis of the century is climate change and it is going to lead to an additional 250,000 deaths in the coming decades.
The World Government Summit kicked off on Sunday, Feb.10 and brought together more than 4,000 participants from 140 countries.
Heads of state, ministers and government officials have converged on the platform to discuss the world's future at the three-day event.
One of the important issues at the summit was the environment problems.
