Bishkek, Nov. 6, 2018. /Kabar/. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Law on Ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic on the Demarcation of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz State Border,” akorda.kz reported.
The agreement was signed on December 25, 2017 in Astana by the leaders of the two countries, in the framework of the official visit of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Kazakhstan.
The main goal of the treaty is to secure the border between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan at the international legal level. As a result of demarcation of the border, the length of the state border will be 1,257.07 km. There are 1,055 border-marking poles on the border line.
Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Kairat Abdrakhmanov, said that the agreement is termless and cannot be denounced. The entry into force of the agreement will ensure the completion of the process of international legalization of the border of Kazakhstan, will exclude territorial disputes with Kyrgyzstan in advance.
