Preventive medical examinations of convicts took place from April 16 to July 2, in all institutions of the State Service for Punishments Execution (SSPE) in conjunction with the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, Nazgul Soltobekova, the head of medical department of the SSPE told at the meeting of the Coordination Council on reforming the criminal-executive system of Kyrgyzstan.
She said that the medical examination was conducted by surgeons, therapists, etc.
"The doctors made ultrasound of internal organs of prisoners and laboratory examinations of biomaterials. Among the convicts are common diseases such as hepatitis, ulcers, gastritis, diseases of the genitourinary system, i.e. urolithiasis, cholesticides, pancreatitis, etc. A total of 8 thousand 637 convicts were examined,” Soltobekova said.
The meeting was attended by chairman of the SSPE Talaibek Japarov, ambassador, head of the OSCE Office in Bishkek Pierre von Arx, representatives of ministries and departments, representatives of international, non-governmental and public organizations
