Negotiations underway to open cultural center of Kyrgyzstan in Paris

Bishkek, Dec. 2, 2024. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Nurlanbek Shakiev received Ambassador of France to Kyrgyzstan Nicolas Faya on Friday, the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh reported.

The speaker wished success to the newly appointed ambassador. "I am confident that you, as a professional in your field, will make a great contribution to the development of relations between the countries," he said.

Nurlanbek Shakiev focused on issues related to interstate cooperation. "Kyrgyzstan is interested in strengthening partnership with France, which is considered an advanced country not only in Europe, but also in the world. The issue of trade and economic relations has a special priority, since we have great potential in this area. In addition, we can develop cooperation through the implementation of investment projects in the energy, mining and tourism sectors," the speaker noted.

He also emphasized the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in expanding bilateral relations and added the need for meetings of deputies.

"In April of this year, the head of the France-Central Asia friendship group in the French Senate, Hervé Moret, visited Kyrgyzstan on a working visit and held a number of high-level meetings. We need to organize such meetings at the level of parliamentary leadership and committee chairmen," Nurlanbek Shakiev added.

The speaker drew attention to the issues of expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation, which are important in strengthening friendship and unity between the two states. "Geographically, our countries are located far from each other, but despite this, we can deepen the already established ties, as required by modern realities," he noted.

In turn, French Ambassador Nicolas Faye, expressing gratitude to Nurlanbek Shakiev for the warm welcome and support, briefly informed about his work as a diplomat. He mentioned that negotiations are underway to open a cultural center of Kyrgyzstan in Paris and a cultural center of France in Bishkek. In addition, the diplomat expressed his readiness to assist in the further development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, paying special attention to the organization of bilateral visits.
