Bishkek, Jan. 29, 2018 / Kabar /. Issyk-Kul Lake has been frozen in Tong region of Issyk-Kul oblast.
Eyewitness sent a video taken on the shore of the lake in one of the private resort houses in Ton region, where one can see how the lake was covered with ice.
The author commented that about 200 meters of the lake is covered with ice and the air temperature reaches 21 degrees Celsius below zero.
Abnormal cold hit Kyrgyzstan on Jan. 26-29.
Issyk-Kul Lake, is the second largest saline lake in the world after the Caspian Sea. Issyk-Kul means "warm lake" in the Kyrgyz language; although it is surrounded by snow-capped peaks, it has never been frozen before.
