Bishkek, Oct. 5, 2018. /Kabar/. A conference “New Approaches in the Field of Disaster Risk Reduction”, dedicated to the Day of Disaster Risk Reduction in Kyrgyzstan, is taking place in Bishkek.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the purpose of the conference is to promote disaster risk reduction as one of the elements of the country's sustainable development through the discussion of new approaches, mechanisms and technologies in the field of disaster risk reduction applied in the country and study of foreign experience in applying new approaches.
Emergency Minister Nurbolot Mirzakhmedov told that in order to increase the country's capacity and emergency preparedness of the population, October 5 was announced annually marked Day of Disaster Risk Reduction in the Kyrgyz Republic. At today's conference new approaches in the field of disaster risk reduction will be reviewed and discussed.
During the conference, citizens invited from different regions of the country were awarded with an honorary diploma and badges of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic for bravery and courage in rescuing people in emergency situations.
The conference is attended by Vice Prime Minister Jenish Razakov, representatives of the Security Council, ministries and departments, science and research institutes, higher educational institutions and international organizations.
The partners of the conference are the World Bank, the National Red Crescent Society in the Kyrgyz Republic, the United Nations World Health Organization, UNICEF.
