New coach of Kyrgyz national football team appointed

Bishkek, June 14, 2024. /Kabar/. 46-year-old specialist from Russia Maxim Lisitsyn has been appointed the new head coach of the Kyrgyzstan national football team.

The Kyrgyz Football Union reported that he will prepare the team for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, which starts in September this year.

Maxim Lisitsyn began his working career in Kyrgyzstan 4 years ago. In 2022, under his leadership, the youth team of the Kyrgyz Republic U-20 reached the final stage of the Asian Cup U-20. The Russian specialist also led the Olympic team of the Kyrgyz Republic U-23 and participated in the qualifying games of the Asian championship.

On June 13, after the approval of Lisitsyn’s candidacy by the Executive Committee of the Kyrgyz Football Union, KFU President Kamchybek Tashiev met with the new coach of the national team. He wished the coach success in his work and expressed hope that under his leadership the team will achieve its goals.

The agreement between the KFU and the head coach is valid for one year, until the completion of the third qualifying round of the World Cup.
