New electric buses and large buses to arrive in Bishkek soon

Bishkek, Sept. 28, 2022. / Kabar /. Maksat Nusubaliev, Director of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of the Bishkek Mayor’s Office told on Birinchi Radio when and how many buses will be purchased for Bishkek.

He said that 250 large-sized buses will be purchased under the project of the European Development Bank, of which 140 buses are 10.5 meters, 110 - 12 meters. “Contracts have already been signed for the purchase of 140 buses, and from the beginning of 2023 they will begin to arrive in the capital. It is planned to purchase 120 electric buses through the Asian Bank, the tender has passed, we are preparing to sign the contract,” he said and added that more electric buses will be purchased with the saved funds.

Nusubaliev noted that for the first time, KGS 1 billion were allocated from the local budget for the purchase of public transport, 130 modern buses will be purchased with these funds. "The first batch will arrive on November 1," he added.
