Bishkek, Aug. 29, 2021. / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, as part of a working trip to Talas Oblast, laid a capsule for the construction of a new Bala-Saruu hydroelectric power station at the Kirov reservoir, the press service of the head of state reported.
The Bala-Saruu HPP construction project involves the construction of a HPP with three generators with a total capacity of 25 megawatts, with an average annual electricity generation of 92 million kWh.
According to the developed roadmap, the project should be completed in December 2022.
The volume of required funding sources, according to the developed feasibility study, is USD 22.9 million.
The goal of this project is not only to increase the profitability of energy companies, but also to develop the country's economy as a whole. Bala-Saruu hydroelectric power station will create a favorable and reliable mode of operation of electrical networks.
Sadyr Zhaparov stressed that the state pays special attention to the development of the energy sector, since it is the basis of the economy and one of the key industries that contribute to improving the living conditions of the population.
“Our main task is to build new hydroelectric power plants and develop the economy, while preserving the environment and passing it on to future generations. Ensuring energy independence and security is one of the main goals today. Currently, special attention is paid to the development of renewable energy sources, including the construction of small hydroelectric power plants,” Sadyr Zhaparov said.
He noted that today a new page is opening in the history of the energy sector of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Sadyr Zhaparov expressed confidence that the construction of the Bala-Saruu hydroelectric power station will give a great impetus to increase state generating capacities, as well as create favorable conditions for the socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan.
