New Indian strain of COVID-19 may already circulating in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, June 24, 2021 . / Kabar / . A new Indian Delta strain of COVID-19 may already be circulating in Kyrgyzstan, head of the Epidemiological Department of the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Dinara Otorbayeva told Kabar News Agency.

She added the Indian strain was detected in the country in spring, so it is possible that the new Delta strain is also already circulating.

"We will receive laboratory analyses the other days, which were sent in late May to an institute in Novosibirsk, Russia.

Based on the results of the tests, it will be possible to know what strains of COVID-19 are circulating in the country. Right now we can't yet judge to what extent the new Delta strain is spreading," the specialist said.
