Bishkek, July 19, 2024 . / Kabar / . First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Asein Isaev accepted the letter of appointment of Oleg Guchgeldiev as the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN FAO) in Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the main areas of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and FAO. The role of FAO as one of the key international organizations assisting the development of the Kyrgyz Republic was positively noted.
Guchgeldiev expressed readiness to further expand the partnership between Kyrgyzstan and FAO. He assured that FAO will carry out its activities aimed at strengthening food security in the country, accelerating modernization of agriculture for sustainable rural development, including through the "Hand in hand" initiative, as well as increasing the export potential of small farms in Kyrgyzstan.
The FAO representative praised the leading role of Kyrgyzstan in promoting mountain initiatives in the international arena and confirmed readiness in the implementation of tasks to achieve joint goals.
The parties agreed on the need to strengthen work on minimizing the negative impact of climate change on agriculture, and agreed to hold periodic consultations to summarize interim results of FAO activities and agree on future project activities in Kyrgyzstan.
