Next meeting of SCO security chiefs to be held in Kazakhstan

The next meeting of Security Councils Secretaries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states will take place in Kazakhstan, TASS repored with reference to the Kazakh president’s press service.

"As a result of the meeting, it was decided to hold the next meeting of Secretaries of Security Councils of the SCO member states in Kazakhstan," the statement said.

The security chiefs discussed a wide range of issues at the meeting, including security and stability in the SCO zone. The press service pointed out that Nurdauletov briefed his counterparts on Kazakhstan’s position on the most important areas of SCO’s activities, put forward several proposals for further development of interaction on key security aspects, taking into account the country’s interests.

"The sides exchanged views on topical issues on the international and regional agenda, including on the development of cooperation in such areas as combating cybercrime, countering terrorism and extremism, illegal arms and drugs trafficking, transnational organized crime, stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan, ensuring international information security," the press service said.
