Bishkek, Jan. 8, 2025. / Kabar /. According to preliminary data, there are no Kyrgyz citizens among the victims of the strong earthquake in the Tibet Autonomous Region (Xizang Autonomous Prefecture) in China.
According to the latest data, 126 people were killed and 188 were injured in the earthquake.
Today, January 7, 2025, at 09:05 Beijing time, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 occurred in the Tibet Autonomous Region (Xizang Autonomous Prefecture) in China.
The epicentre of Tuesday's magnitude 6.8 quake, one of the region's most powerful tremors in recent years, was located in Tingri in China's Tibet region, about 80 km (50 miles) north of Mount Everest, the world's highest mountain. It also shook buildings in neighbouring Nepal, Bhutan and India.
Evacuation from the area of use of the device to a safe place is underway.
Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered that every effort be made to carry out search and rescue operations and minimize casualties after the earthquakes.
