Bishkek, Feb. 14, 2022 . / Kabar /. There are no citizens of Kyrgyzstan among people detained in muss unrest in Kazakhstan’s Almaty, Askat Azarbekov, the head of the Office of the Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic said during a press conference at Kabar News Agency.
This became known during the working visit to Kazakhstan of the delegation of the Ombudsman Institute and the National Center for the Prevention of Torture of the Kyrgyz Republic.
"The purpose of the visit was to strengthen interaction and ensure effective cooperation on the issues of support, protection of the rights and legitimate interests of Kyrgyz citizens living in Kazakhstan. Thus, during the visit, meetings were held with the Human Rights Commissioner of Kazakhstan Elvira Azimova, Deputy Prosecutor of Almaty Nurlan Auganbayev, including the deputy Pprosecutor of Taraz, head of the Penal System Department, representatives of the investigation service, as well as representatives of the Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law” he said.
Azarbekov also noted that during the visit, a number of issues concerning the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic detained during the mass unrest in Kazakhstan in January this year was discussed.
“According to Deputy Prosecutor Auganbayev, at the time of the visit of the Kyrgyz delegation of human rights bodies, there are no detained citizens of Kyrgyzstan in Almaty," the head of the office pointed out.
