Bishkek, July 3, 2020 / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan, like other countries, is experiencing difficult times due to the situation with COVID-19, Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Aida Ismailova said during the briefing.
She noted that in recent days the epidemiological situation in the republic has worsened, the number of sick and fatal outcomes has increased. Currently, there is a big burden on medical staff.
“We are going through hard times in the country. The hospitals are crowded. There are not enough beds, as well as health workers. I would like to note that a similar situation is observed all over the world. This infection occurs for the first time in history. No one country has a virus control scenario. Despite the complexity, the healthcare system and other government agencies are working to combat COVID-19,” she said.
Ismailova noted that for several years, due attention was not paid to the sanitary-epidemiological service. Today the result is visible.
“In the sanitary-epidemiological service there are problems regarding personnel, medical workers, equipment, and on this basis we have to introduce the fight against the virus. I would also like to say that, despite this, equipment is purchased, the material and technical base is improved, PCR systems, and reagents are purchased. We also monitor all other needs in the healthcare system,” said the vice prime minister.
Kyrgyzstan reported 506 new COVID-19 cases on July 3, a total of 6,767, of which 994 were cases of infection by medical personnel. 2655 citizens were cured and discharged from hospitals, including 484 health workers. 76 died from COVID-19. In addition, 123 people died from pneumonia in the Kyrgyz Republic since March 2020.
