Bishkek, Jan.28, 2020. /Kabar/. There are no threats to food security in Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation Amangeldi Isayev told reporters.
The deputy minister added as of today, the country can provide 4 out of 9 products on its food security list.
"In recent years, we have been fully self-sufficient in sugar. Earlier, we could provide only 17-20%. We grow 1,300-1,400 tones of potatoes annually. We provide 60% of the meat, the rest we import, we supply 58 thousand tons of chicken meat to the Kyrgyz Republic. 5 thousand tons of seeds,” the deputy agriculture minister noted.
“Every year the situation is monitored and the delivery of products goes through quotas,” Isayev concluded.
