Novikov instructs to prepare map of promising development projects in Dzhalal-Abad

Bishkek, Dec. 26, 2020 /Kabar/. Acting Prime Minister, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Artem Novikov held a meeting with Dzhalal-Abad Oblast Governor Absattar Syrgabayev, mayors, heads of regions and regional government agencies.

The meeting, held as part of the acting PM’s working trip to the oblast, discussed current issues of socio-economic development of the region and the current epidemiological situation.

Artem Novikov paid special attention to the issues of passing the winter heating period, food security and the level of prices for socially important food products.

He noted that previously a significant share in the structure of the region was industry, in particular, industrial enterprises were the locomotive of the regional economy.

"Now more than 50% of the industrial production of the oblast falls on the enterprises of the mining industry. The region has great opportunities to revive its industrial potential and we have all the necessary conditions for that including raw materials and energy resources," he said.

During the meeting, Artem Novikov also stressed the need to support small and medium business.

"An unscheduled meeting with representatives of small and medium-sized businesses in Dzhalal-Abad took place today. We discussed with them projects on the development of the region, they voiced their ideas. They are very promising guys, ready to work and invest, expanding their production. But they don't have proper support from local authorities. We need to meet the needs of entrepreneurs, creating conditions for them. They will ensure an increase in tax revenues and development of the region as a whole. Tourist potential of the region is not used in full. Investors and businesses should not feel anxious, they should know that governors and the government are behind them. All these issues must be solved at the local level, you have all the necessary powers for that. The government, in turn, is ready to support all your initiatives," he concluded.

In the end of the retreat, the acting prime minister charged Dzhalal-Abad Oblast Governor Absattar Syrgabayev to prepare together with the business sector a map of promising development projects of the oblast for 2021.
