Bishkek, Oct.14, 2024. /Kabar/. A new project of financing of enlarged agricultural commodity producers is being developed this year in Kyrgyzstan, Nurlanbek Kozhogulov, the Director of the Department of Cooperation, Mechanization of Innovative Technologies under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the republic said.
He noted that this project will start its work in 2025.
“The project involves the presentation of a number of preferential ways of financing. The year before last, the Cabinet of Ministers issued a decree on providing agricultural land for 12 months, 242 cooperatives were established, and cooperatives that had been idle before were reactivated. Thus, we expect an increase in their number. In addition, a number of bills are being developed to provide preferences for large agricultural producers in accordance with the presidential decree to reduce the number of small-scale producers and increase the volume of export products,” the director of the Cooperation Department said.
In turn, head of the Department of Implementation of Decisions on the Processing Industry of the Agricultural Ministry Erbol Zamirbekov stressed that the association of producers into cooperatives is a complex process.
“Now a legal act is being developed. If farmers unite their lands from 100 hectares and above, the drip irrigation system will be installed free of charge by the ministry, provided that 20% of the harvest will be transferred to the ministry. Also, in order to unite farmers, preferential lending at 6% is provided. For example, the cooperative Nookat Almasy has united more than 200 hectares and already this year has exported products - this is a very good indicator. In post-Soviet countries, our apples have proven themselves very well and are considered a brand. This program has been working since 2022, when 9 cluster associations were created. To date, 18 cluster associations are already working,” Zamirbekov added.
