Number of Uzbek enterprises with foreign capital reaches 11 thsd

Tashkent, Feb.13, 2020. /Kabar/. As of Feb. 1, 2020, the number of enterprises in Uzbekistan with foreign capital participation amounted to 11 thousand, the press service of the country’s State Committee on Statistics reported.

10,600 enterprises, or 96.1%, are operating. This figure increased by 3,000 or 37%, compared to the same period last year. In January 2020, 255 enterprises with foreign capital were established in the republic.

The majority of such enterprises belongs to Russia (1864), Turkey (1690), China (1306), Korea (824) and Kazakhstan (766).

There are 3,597 joint ventures and foreign enterprises with CIS countries in Uzbekistan.

The main share of such enterprises (17.6%) is in Russia, 7.8% in Kazakhstan, 1.7% in Azerbaijan, 1.5% in Kyrgyzstan and 1.5% in Tajikistan.

As of Feb. 1, 2019, Tashkent city accounts for 6253 operating enterprises with foreign capital participation (59% of the total number).

The four regions preferred for foreign capital include, in addition to the capital, the Tashkent Region, which has 1,170 operating enterprises with foreign capital (11 %) and Samarkand Region, which has 516 (4.9 %).

“The main part of the operating enterprises with foreign capital is industry - 3758 and trade – 2645,” the report says.
