Number of fires in Bishkek reduces by 4.7% with 28 human lives saved

Bishkek, Dec.20, 2019. /Kabar/. 757 fires occurred in Bishkek during 11 months of 2019 (794 in 2018), the number of fires decreased by 4.7% compared to last year, the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations reported Friday.

According to its data, material losses from fires amounted to more than KGS 302 million (in 2018 - more than KGS 469 million), 12 people died in fires (in 2018 - 7 people), 29 people were injured (in 2018 - 24 people).

28 human lives (14 in 2018) and goods and materials worth more than KGS 1 billion 658 (over KGS 192 million in 2018) were saved.

The main causes of fires are negligence when smoking - 46.4%; violation of technical operation of electrical equipment - 27.1%; careless handling of fire - 13.2%.

Most fires occurred in the residential sector (212 fires with material damage exceeding KGS 17 million 380 thousand 122), where 7 people died.

In order to prevent fire and loss of life in fires, the Bishkek Administration of Emergency Ministry conducts instructions, lectures and talks with employees of government facilities.
