Bishkek, Oct.4, 2019. /Kabar/. There are 2.5 million people using the Internet in Kyrgyzstan, Chairman of the State Committee for Information Technologies and Communication of the Kyrgyz Republic Dastan Dogoyev said at the “Digital Transformation in Central Asia” conference.
He said the population of Kyrgyzstan is 6.2 million people, while 9.38 million cellular subscribers are registered.
“The Internet is used by 2.5 million people, and about 2 million people are actively using social networks. This is a great potential to use the opportunities of mobile technologies,” he said.
The chairman added the number of Internet users grows by 38 % annually.
Dastan Dogoyev also said that in Kyrgyzstan, 40% of the population has a bank account, 15% has internet banking, and 5% makes online sales and purchases.
