Number of Kyrgyzstanis vaccinated exceeds country’s tally of COVID-19 cases

Bishkek, July 14, 2021 . / Kabar / . Over several months of the national vaccination campaign, number of citizens who received coronavirus vaccine has exceeded total number of coronavirus cases, the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s Health Ministry said Wednesday.

Thus, over 144 thousand Kyrgyz citizens have been vaccinated so far, while the country’s tally of COVID-19 cases for more than a year has reached 143,668.

Thus, it was possible to achieve positive dynamics in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Minister of Health and Social Development of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said it was possible to vaccinate so many people in 3.5 months, but the task ahead is to vaccinate at least 70% of the population to form a collective immunity, taking into account the recommendations of the World Health Organization experts.

In Kyrgyzstan, the national vaccination campaign began at the end of March 2021.

1,250,000 doses of Vero Cell vaccine were received on July 11, of which 1,100,000 were bought at the expense of the republican budget and 150,000 doses were allocated as a humanitarian aid from China.
