Bishkek, Feb. 20, 2023. / Kabar /. More than 1,000 cases of echinococcosis are registered in Kyrgyzstan annually, of which about 1,000 cases are cystic and 200 cases are alveolar, the country's Ministry of Health said.
According to the ministry, based on data provided by the Department of Disease Prevention and Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance of the Kyrgyz Republic, the incidence of echinococcosis in the country has remained consistently high for many years.
When analyzing the long-term dynamics of the incidence of echinococcosis, there is an increase in the incidence in the country by 1.3 times in 2022 compared to 2012, the report said.
The echinococcosis is one of the most severe invasions, the treatment of which, in case of untimely treatment, is only surgical. At the same time, complications are observed in 35% of patients after surgery, and often this disease can lead to death.
