Bishkek, Oct.8, 2019. /Kabar/. As of Sept.1, 2019, the total number of payment cards has amounted to about 2.8 million, having increased by 21.7% over the year, Chairman of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan Tolkunbek Abdygulov told during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
He said within the framework of the 2019, declared by President of the Kyrgyz Republic the Year of Regional Development and Digitalization, the work on increasing payment cards continues.
Tolkunbek Abdygulov said that the number of cards of the Elkart national system amounted to 1.4 million pieces.
“To date, more than 53,112 users are active users of the Elkart Mobile application and they have conducted 806,354 transactions,” he said.
The head of the Kyrgyz National Bank said that commercial banks are actively developing online banking, Internet banking and mobile banking services.
“Since the beginning of 2019, the indicators of electronic money have been growing. As of the end of Q2 2019, the number of e-wallets increased by almost 1.6 times, compared to the same period in 2018, reaching more than 1.4 million wallets. The volume of operations on payment for goods and services increased 1.4 times compared to the same period of 2018 and amounted to KGS 1.4 billion, while the number of operations increased by 0.25 percent and amounted to 4.1 million operations,” he added.
