The report of the Kyrgyz National Bank's report on financial stability in the first half of 2021, the number of registered unemployed on July 1, 2021 was 80.5 thousand people, an increase of 2.4 percent compared to the same date in 2020.
The registered unemployment rate was 3.1 percent of the economically active population. One of the main reasons for the increase in the number of officially registered unemployed compared to last year was the pandemic of coronavirus infection, the impact of which continued to reduce jobs in 2021.
In addition, the reason for the growth of registered unemployment in the period under review can be identified as the absence of quarantine regime in the current year, as the main reason for the decline in the growth rate of unemployment in 2020 was the introduction of quarantine measures, as a result of which many could not register.
Education (34.7 percent), services (32.1 percent) and industry (13.8 percent) remained the main sectors of employment for the working population in the reporting period.
Official data do not show significant changes in the number of employed population over the last five years.
