Bishkek, Dec. 25, 2018. /Kabar/. In Kyrgyzstan, there is an increase in the number of wild animals and migratory rare species of Red Book birds in protected natural areas. This is evidenced by the received fresh shots from camera traps installed in the territory of Naryn State Natural Reserve and Chon-Kemin State Natural Park.
The photographs show that almost all species of rare wild birds and animals live in the territory of the reserve and the natural park, the press service of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry (SAEPF) of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The day before, the staff of Naryn State Nature Reserve set another 16 camera traps throughout the reserve.
“The ongoing active work of the SAEPF on biodiversity and ecosystems aimed at preserving the population of wild animals, including the snow leopard and rare wild birds, is fruitful. It used to be a great hindrance to detect wild animals and the snow leopard. 15 years ago the snow leopard was on the verge of extinction, while today we can proudly say that he has returned,” the message says.
Employees of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry constantly conduct explanatory work with local residents, urging them to respect the environment, flora and fauna, and also keep records ofand monitor the increase or decrease in those or other species of wild animals.
The total area of Naryn State Nature Reserve is 105 thousand 519 hectares. Of these, 36 thousand. 160 hectares is a conservation area, 809 hectares – breeding ground for deers, 27 thousand 860.7 hectares –buffer, and 40 thousand 689.9 hectares is a protected zone.
Over 26 species of mammals, 104 species of rare wild birds, 5 species of fish, 4 species of reptiles, as well as several species of amphibians can be fund here.
In addition, rare species of Red Book wild animals and birds like can be encountered here: snow leopard, manul, lynx, Tien Shan brown bear, red deer, argali, marten, golden eagle, balaban falcon, bearded vulture, sicklebill, booted eagle, owl, lesser kestrel, Barbary falcon, gyrfalcon, tawny owl, daker hen, Himalayan griffon, as well as more than 600 plant species.
The territory of Chon-Kemin State Natural Park is 123. thousand 654 hectares. More than 45 species of rare wild animals and more than 122 bird species live here. The number of species of migratory birds is more than 100. Rare red book wild animals, birds and plants like can also be found here: bear, snow leopard. red deer, marten, sicklebill, etc., as well as various medicinal tea herbs and other plants.
More than 350 species of migratory rare wild birds fly to Kyrgyzstan annually.
Currently, more than 400 species of rare wild birds inhabit Kyrgyzstan, of which 57 species are listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan.
