Olympics 2024: Zholaman Sharshenbekov to compete for bronze medal

Bishkek, Aug. 6, 2024 . / Kabar / . Greco-Roman wrestler from Kyrgyzstan Zholaman Sharshenbekov lost to Tokyo's Kenichiro Fumita in the semifinals.

Sharshenbekov competed Aug. 5 in the weight category up to 60 kg and started at the 1/8 finals.

He first defeated a representative from Kazakhstan and then took victory over an athlete from Romania.

In the semifinals, Sharshenbekov fought against Tokyo Olympic finalist Kenichiro Fumita. The bout ended 4-3 in favor of the Japanese athlete, who advanced to the finals.

Sharshenbekov will compete for the bronze medal Aug. 6. His opponent will be the winner of the Kevin Juran De Armas Rodriguez (Cuba) - Mehdi Mohsennejad (Iran) pairing.
