Ombudsman Mamytov meets heads of non-governmental environmental organizations of Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Jan. 25, 2019. /Kabar/. Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic Tokon Mamytov held a meeting with the leaders of a number of NGOs in Kyrgyzstan, whose activities are aimed at protecting and maintaining a favorable environmental situation, as well as protecting the human right to health, a safe environment and the environmental situation in the country, the press service of the Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

In particular, the meeting was attended by Director General of the Union of Photojournalists of Kyrgyzstan Vladislav Ushakov, Executive Director of the Biom Environmental Movement Anna Kirilenko, Head of Our Right PF Kalicha Umuralieva, Director of UNISON PF Nurzat Abdyrasulova, Head of Chatkal Development Fund Gamal Soronkulov, Director of Archa Initiative PF Dmitry Vetoshkin and Head of the Move Green public youth association Maria Kolesnikova.

The Ombudsman told the audience about the changes that have already occurred in the structure and activities of the Ombudsman’s office, as well as about the upcoming goals and objectives of the country's main human rights body.

“Violations detected by the Commissions of the Accounts Chamber and the State Personnel Service of the Kyrgyz Republic in the work of the institution of the Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2016-2017 should be eliminated as soon as possible. No violation of the legislation of the republic in any state institution of the Kyrgyz Republic, and even more so - in the Ombudsman’s office is admissible. From now on, the entire work of the Ombudsman Institute will be built on three basic principles - Legality, Honesty, Justice. Strict observance of these principles is the protection of human rights,” Mamytov said.

For their part, environmentalists and human rights activists spoke about the main activities of their organizations, as well as the most burning and pressing problems that exist today in the environmental situation in our country. Moreover, issues related to the work of individual state supervisory authorities, whose work should be de jure aimed at protecting the environment, but de facto implemented in a completely opposite direction, were raised.

The scope and list of issues raised was extensive and explored. In this regard, the Ombudsman proposed to hold a thematic "round table". This event is scheduled for the behinning of February this year.
