Bishkek, Dec. 14, 2021. / Kabar / . Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baisalov said that a new strain of omicron may appear in Kyrgyzstan in mid-January, the Republican Headquarters for Combating COVID-19 reported.

During an address to Kyrgyzstanis, Baisalov urged citizens to vaccinate themselves and vaccinate their loved ones, especially the elderly and chronically ill.

"We expect to have a new omicron strain in the country by mid-January of this coming year. A high surge of COVID-19 is expected, and citizens need to be vaccinated by that time. In turn, the presence of chronic diseases is not a contraindication, on the contrary, this category of citizens is at risk, and they need to be vaccinated first," he said.
