Bishkek, Feb. 26, 2019. /Kabar/. Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Altynai Omurbekova took part in the Youth Forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on Tourism Development.
“In 2019, the Kyrgyz Republic is chairing the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the holding of various activities within the upcoming summit is an important event for us. In the modern world, tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors of the world economy. Given this, tourism is one of the priority and export-oriented sectors of the Kyrgyz economy. The Kyrgyz Republic has a high tourism potential and a number of favorable conditions for the successful development of the tourism sector,” she said.
The Vice Prime Minister drew attention to the fact that the holding of the World Nomad Games from 2014 to 2018 had a positive impact on the development of domestic tourism.
“The World Nomad Games have created a favorable image of the Kyrgyz Republic as a promising tourist country in the Central Asian region. International press such as The Guardian and Lonely Planet ranked our republic in the top 10 and 5 recommended countries in the world to visit in 2019. According to the UN World Tourism Organization, the Kyrgyz Republic topped the list of countries in which a tourist boom is expected in the next 10 years,” the Vice Prime Minister said.
Omurbekova noted that Kyrgyzstan has a pristine nature and clean ecology.
“In the territory of the republic are located one of the largest high-mountain lakes in the world, such as Issyk-Kul, Son-Kul, Chatyr-Kul and Sary-Chelek. The local tourism industry can offer activities for every tourist at affordable prices, from a thrill seeker to a cultural enthusiast,” the Vice Prime Minister concluded.
To date, as part of the development of tourism, the Program of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic for the development of tourism for 2019-2023 has been adopted. At the same time, in order to effectively implement the state policy in the sphere of tourism and the rational use of objects of sanatorium-resort organizations that are state-owned, the state enterprise “Kyrgyz Tourism” was created.
“One of the priorities is development of youth tourism. The specificity of youth tourism, first of all, lies in its economy: young people are ready to save on everything, from transport to accoodation and the level of its comfort. All that young people are interested in is new impressions, acquaintances, obtaining new knowledge and new expriences. Therefore, the tourist product offered to young people should be relatively inexpensive, but at the same time filled with the spirit of opportunism and adventure,” she said.
