Bishkek, Nov. 19, 2021 . / Kabar / . Only 1 case of anthrax outbreak was recorded in Kyrgyzstan’s Jalal-Abad Oblast (Aksy region) since the beginning of the year, head of the Department of Anti-Epizootic Surveillance and Identification of Animals of the State Inspectorate for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Safety Adilet Sotobaldiev said during a press conference at Kabar News Agency.
The specialist added that the outbreak emerged due to irresponsibility of citizens who slaughtered sick cows without a veterinarian check and distributed the meat.
"As a result, 12 people were admitted to hospital with suspected anthrax infection, two of whom had laboratory confirmation of the diagnosis. All of them were successfully treated and discharged. No fatalities were recorded. In addition, there was a suspected anthrax outbreak in another region of Jalal-Abad Oblast – Suzak, but the laboratory did not confirm the diagnosis," Sotobaldiev told.
