One of leading political parties removed from Bishkek City Council elections

Bishkek, April 19, 2021 . / Kabar / . By decision of the Bishkek Territorial Election Commission (TEC), the People’s Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan NDPK was removed from the elections to the Bishkek City Council, TEC said on Monday.

This decision was taken Sunday at a meeting of the commission, where all complaints and applications from Kloop Media, Common Cause Public Foundations and 12 political parties were considered.

Bishkek TEC concluded that there had been violations of electoral legislation by representatives of political party NDPK, expressed in carrying out campaigning on the day of voting, bribing of voters, and violation of the procedure of financing of election campaign.

In this regard, Bishkek TEC made a decision to cancel the registration of the list of candidates of political party NDPK and to recognize the ballot papers with votes cast for the party as invalid.

The party may challenge this decision in the Central Elections Commission or appeal to court.

On April 11, a constitutional referendum and the local council elections were held in Kyrgyzstan. Thus, according to preliminary data from the CEC, following six parties entered the Bishkek City Council:

- Bizdin El - 7.73%;

- Ata-Jurt Kyrgyzstan - 9.63%;

- NDPK - 10.70%;

- Emgek - 13.87%;

- Yntymak - 13.87%;

- Ak-Bata - 12.15%.
