Bishkek, Sept. 4, 2017. /Kabar/. An important document during the state visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kyrgyzstan will be an agreement on Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border, chief of the foreign policy department of the Kyrgyz President’s Office Aizada Subakozhoeva told reporters at a briefing.

She said that, as is known, last year President Almazbek Atambayev, when he met with President of Uzbekistan in Samarkand, instructed them to activate the process of delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border.

"The work of government groups was on a regular basis. 16 meetings have been held since last year till present. As a result of such hard and painstaking work, 1 thousand 170 km from the common border was marked, this is more than 80% of the uncoordinated territory. 217 km remain unmarked," she said.

"Three profile committees had already reviewed and approved the draft, so the document is ready for signing. And I think that tomorrow the agreement will be signed and a new bright page will be opened in the history of Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations. We think that the agreement will promote the activation of the whole spectrum of cooperation. The main focus will be on cross-border cooperation and the implementation of specific projects. That is, we can now state an intensification of cooperation. The mutual trade is growing, an active political dialogue has been established," Subakozhoeva added.
