Only pipe organ in Central Asia presented at Philharmonic Hall in Bishkek

Bishkek, Nov. 20, 2024. /Kabar/. A presentation of a unique musical instrument – an organ, which has undergone complete restoration and overhaul, took place at the Kyrgyz National Philharmonic named after Toktogul Satylganov.

This instrument is the only one in Central Asia and is important for the cultural life of the region, the press service of the Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan said.

Restoration and overhaul of the organ was carried out by highly qualified specialists from Moscow. During the presentation, masters spoke in detail about the work done, and also demonstrated the updated instrument in action, performing some musical works.

The event was attended by Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan Altynbek Maksutov and director of the Philharmonic. In his speech, the minister highly appreciated the quality of the work done, emphasizing that the restoration of the organ is an important step in preserving the cultural heritage of Kyrgyzstan.

KGS 9 million were allocated from the budget to the restoration of the instrument. These funds allowed to return the instrument to its original sound and ensure its readiness for full use.

The organ of the National Philharmonic was installed more than half a century ago and for a long time remained one of the key instruments of the concert program. Its restoration will allow expanding the repertoire of the Philharmonic, reviving unique organ concerts and drawing attention to classical music.
