Bishkek, Feb.14, 2020. /Kabar/. “An open and honest dialogue between business and government is the key to economic success,” Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev said at the meeting of the Business Development and Investment Council, the Government's press service said on Friday.
The prime minister, noting the implementation of several key initiatives raised by business in 2019, focused on some figures.
"Last year we managed to outpace the country's gross domestic product growth rate by 0.5%. The volume of GDP reached KGS 590 billion. 6.5 thousand new jobs have been created. There are results on import substitution, on attraction of investments, KGS 2 billion have been allocated from the republican budget for implementation of business projects in regions.
Fifty-one projects have already been financed. Value added tax privileges for processing enterprises in the amount of 80% have been provided, a mechanism of exemption from 4 types of taxes for 5 years for newly opened enterprises in the regions has been introduced, changes have been made to the legislation on public procurement, which allowed increasing the share of domestic companies in public procurement to 49% in 2019," Abylgaziev said.
"Last year's results create only the foundation for future economic transformations in the country. Next, we need to take special measures to guarantee the inviolability of private property and invested funds. We must eliminate any bureaucratic delays in starting and running a business. An important issue is to increase the sources of business financing in the regions, including through the use of regional development funds,” the prime minister stressed.
The head of the Government emphasized the fiscal system will be an important stage in the implementation of the country's digital transformation concept.
"The main goal of all initiatives we propose in 2020 is to attract investments and create new permanent jobs. I will personally accompany and control the launch of large industrial enterprises, as well as the start of major projects in the framework of public-private partnership.
This is only the initial stage of the system, and business should know that it will be quite painful. Together we must overcome all obstacles and the political will of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic is the guarantor of success, who has expressed a strong determination to block corruption. The Government is waiting for a response from the business community, expressed, among other things, in initiatives for the development of the national economy," the PM said.
At the end of the event, in accordance with the decision of the Awarding Council of the Kyrgyz Republic, PM Abylgaziev awarded a number of entrepreneurs working in different sectors of the economy for significant results in quality, safety and implementation of highly effective methods of quality management.
