Bishkek, March 3, 2022. / Kabar /. The opening ceremony of the Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV took place at the ice arena in Bishkek.
President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov attended the opening ceremony.
The head of state threw the puck into the hockey players and wished them good luck in the upcoming games.
Also, President of the International Ice Hockey Federation, Luc Tardif, said in his speech that he is for the first time in Kyrgyzstan, he was happy that he came to the country on such a special day - the Day of the National Flag of Kyrgyzstan.
Well-known Soviet hockey goalie Vladislav Tretiak, president of the German Ice Hockey Federation Franz Reindl and vice president of the International Ice Hockey Federation for Asia and Oceania Aivaz Omorkanov also take part in the event.
The Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV is a sports competition under the auspices of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), which is held in Kyrgyzstan for the first time.
The tournament is attended by 5 national teams and all from Asia, namely the national team of Kyrgyzstan (came from the qualifying tournament of the III division), the national team of Kuwait (came from the qualifying tournament of the III division), the national team of Iran (participating for the first time), the national team of Singapore (participating for the first time), the national team Malaysia (participating for the first time).
The championship was supposed to be held back in 2020, but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
