Bishkek, April 2, 2021 . / Kabar /. Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulukbek Maripov took part in the opening ceremony of the Ak-Zhol - Korday checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Government reported that Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin also attended the opening ceremony of the checkpoints.
Delivering a solemn speech, the Kyrgyz prime minister noted that the main purpose of the reconstruction and modernization of the checkpoints is to create favorable conditions for people crossing the Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border.
"The first impressions of a country are formed at the border. Therefore, the newly opened checkpoints fully comply with international standards and are equipped with modern equipment. The number of passport control booths has been increased, which will significantly reduce the time of citizens crossing the border. Opening of the checkpoints is a step towards solving strategic objectives aimed at increasing the volume of exports and imports, strengthening of the transit potential of both countries,” Ulukbek Maripov noted,
In turn, Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin emphasized the importance of opening the checkpoints for the economy of the two brotherly republics.
Reconstruction and modernization of the Ak-Zhol checkpoint was started in 2020. The total estimated cost of the project made KGS 342.3 million.
After the reconstruction, the capacity of the checkpoint will increase 2.5 times.
