Bishkek, Dec. 24, 2018. /Kabar/. A ceremony for awarding the Order of the International Assembly of Capital and Major Cities for Contribution to the Sustainable Development of Cities of the CIS was held at Bishkek Mayor’s Office on December 24.
Congratulating the award recipients, Mayor of Bishkek Aziz Surakmatov thanked them for their work for the benefit of the city and their great contribution to its development, and also noted that awarding of the order is a sign of recognition of merit not only in the capital, but also internationally.
Chairman of Bishkek City Kenesh (Council) Janybek Abirov took part in presenting the orders. For their contribution to the sustainable development of the cities of the CIS, the Order was awarded to:
- Kerimkulov Medetbek Temirbekovich – now the President of the Association of Oil Traders of the Kyrgyz Republic, from 1999 to 2005 the mayor of the city of Bishkek;
- Omurkulov Isa Sheishenkulovich – now a deputy of the Kyrgyz Parliament, was the mayor of Bishkek in 2010-2013;
- Salymbekov Askar Maatkabylovich – was the mayor of Bishkek in 2005;
- Dzhumagulov Apas Dzhumagulovich – a statesman of the Kyrgyz Republic;
- Amankulov Marat Askerovich – now a deputy of the Kyrgyz Parliament, the Chairman of Bishkek City Kenesh in 2011-2012 and 2012-2015;
- Gubina Larisa Vasilyevna – Deputy Head of the Department of Social Development of Bishkek;
- Vasilyev Lev Alekseyevich – deputy of Bishkek City Kenesh.
The International Assembly of Capital and Major Cities of the CIS is the only organization uniting exclusively the capitals and cities of the CIS countries. Bishkek Mayor’s Office has been a co-founder and member of a public non-profit association – the International Assembly of Capitals and Major Cities since September 3, 1998. At present, 7 capitals and 87 major cities of 9 CIS countries are members and observers of the International Assembly of Capitals and Major Cities.
