Osh and Mashhad may become sister cities

Osh, Sept. 15, 2022. / Kabar /. First Vice Mayor of Osh city Mars Isaev and Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Kyrgyz Republic Said Kharazi met in Osh on September 14.

During the meeting, Isaev greeted the ambassador on behalf of Mayor of Osh Almaz Mambetov, noting the development of bilateral relations in the framework of improving various areas of the city of Osh. At the meeting, the sides discussed the development of bilateral relations between the city of Osh and major cities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in particular the city of Mashhad, the administrative center of the Khorasan-Rezavi province (population over 2.5 million people).

Kharazi said that the leadership of the city of Mashhad is ready to expand cooperation with the city of Osh, as well as to conclude a memorandum on sister city relations.

“This year, it is expected to sign a relevant memorandum between Kyrgyzstan and Iran, which will include points for expanding cooperation between the second largest city of the Kyrgyz Republic - the city of Osh and the second largest city of the Islamic Republic of Iran - the city of Mashhad,” Kharazi said.

Within the framework of this cooperation, it is planned to organize events for the exchange of experience in providing services to citizens in the areas of solid waste management, landscaping, etc. At the end of the event, Said Kharazi was invited as an honored guest to the solemn events to celebrate the Osh city Day.
