Osh, May 20, 2022. /Kabar/. A meeting was held on Thursday between the leadership of the Osh Mayor’s Office and delegation of OSCE delegation, headed by Anton Thomsen, the Political Advisor to the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities.
During the meeting the sides discussed the issues of intercultural, interethnic interaction, including the implementation of programs of multilingual education in the framework of the Kyrgyz Zharany (Kyrgyz Citizen) Concept.
In her speech, Deputy Osh Mayor Venera Ryskulova emphasized the importance of the work carried out by the local state bodies to strengthen inter-ethnic relations, issues of brotherhood and peace building, increasing the involvement of representatives of different ethnic groups in the activities of state bodies.
Within the framework of the meeting, following issues were discussed: regulation of migration processes, support of universities with the aim of training teachers on polylingual education, early warning of conflicts and risks, possibilities of strengthening inter-ethnic relations, prevention of radicalization.
OSCE representative Anton Thomsen noted that Kyrgyzstan has shown an example of proper integration into modern global processes, including the introduction of language integration as part of the internal consolidation of society (promoting the study of state language skills of ethnic minorities), continuity and implementation of appropriate strategies at the state level, when there is an understanding of the need for policies for socio-economic participation of different ethnic groups in the integration processes.
As a result of the meeting, the sides agreed to develop bilateral cooperation on the above-mentioned issues.
