Bishkek, Oct.18, 2024. /Kabar/. The 13th meeting of Ministers of Economy and Trade of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the 15th meeting of the Working Group on Economic Cooperation of the OTS held in Bishkek.
The event was attended by Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev, OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev, as well as ministers of economy of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Hungary.
In his welcoming speech, Economy Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev noted the significance of Oct.3 - the Day of Cooperation of the Turkic World, and congratulated the participating countries on the 15th anniversary of the signing of the agreement on the establishment of the Cooperation Council of Turkic States.
He emphasized that over these years solid foundations have been created to strengthen the unity of Turkic peoples and expressed gratitude to the participants for their active role in achieving common goals.
Amangeldiev also spoke about the significant growth of Kyrgyzstan's trade turnover with the OTS member countries: the total volume of trade increased by 62%, with exports growing by 54.6% and imports by 66%. This indicates the right direction of economic policy, but it remains necessary to continue to search for new opportunities for cooperation.
One of the key themes discussed at the meeting was the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad project, which is of strategic importance for the region and will open new opportunities for logistics between Europe and China.
Special attention is paid to the development of green economy as part of the modern economic agenda. Recently, a decree was signed by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov aimed at attracting investments in projects focused on environmentally sustainable development, including in the fuel and energy sector.
The meeting of the Working Group on Economic Cooperation discussed key issues, including finalization of the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement between the OTS member states, which will be a significant step in strengthening trade relations in the era of digital transformation.
