Further to the invitation extended by the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the International Election Observation Mission (EOM) of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), led by .Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the Secretary General of the OTS, has started the monitoring of the early presidential elections in Azerbaijan to be held on 7 February 2024.
The mission is comprised of officials from the OTS Secretariat, representatives from the Central Election Commissions (CEC) of Member States other than Azerbaijan, and members of academia from OTS countries.
The Mission is scheduled to hold meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Additionally, the Mission plans to engage with representatives of the contesting candidates.
Notably, this marks the first time the Mission will observe elections in Azerbaijan, including the liberated territories, since its independence.
