Outcome of meeting of Kyrgyz, Tajik reps on border incident

Bishkek, Aug. 6, 2020. /Kabar/. Meeting of representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on border incidents was held Aug. 6, the press service of the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan said Thursday.

"On Aug. 6, the Khoja-Alo town of Sughd Oblast (Tajikistan) hosted the meeting of first governor of Kyrgyzstan's Batken Oblast, deputy governor of Tajikistan's Sughd Oblast, border representatives of Kyrgyzstan in Batken directions and Tajikistan in Isfara direction, as well as representatives of law enforcement agencies of the parties, " the report reads.

During the meeting, the data of the Tajik side on the gunshot wound and subsequent death of a Tajik citizen were clarified.

The meeting participants decided to conduct unilateral investigations into two facts: the wounding of a member of the Kyrgyz State Border Service and the death of a Tajik citizen from a gunshot wound.

Both incidents took place in the morning of Aug. 6, 2020.

The sides will also continue to conduct awareness-raising work among border population.

The situation at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border is characterized as stable.

An incident with the use of weapons occurred at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border on Aug. 6, 2020.

In the Eki-Tash area of Batken Oblast, unknown persons from the Tajik side fired a shot, presumably from a hunting rifle, at a serviceman of the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic.

As a result, a soldier of the border detachment was wounded - a through wound of the hand. He received the necessary medical aassistance. The state of health of the wounded is assessed as satisfactory.
